Mette’s New “Art-in-Use” Textile Accessories
Over the past couple of years, discussion with friends in India prompted Mette to explore the possibility of capturing the colour, warmth and joy of her original oil paintings on textiles for wearing apparel and household accessories. This has involved the selection of highest quality Indian silks and cottons; working with graphic technicians to adapt images of her paintings to the individual items; arranging the printing with some of India’s most accomplished textile printers; and directing the hand-finishing of individual pieces with garment and fabric tailors.
As the photos indicate, the original modest creation of a few textile items have now become a much larger but still very specialized production of both various “art to wear” and “art for your household”.
